Capella for SysON is an open-source initiative bringing the Arcadia methodology to SysML v2 and web-based modeling.
It lays the foundations for the next generation of Capella, combining a proven engineering approach with modern modeling technologies.
Build on a modern web-based platform to facilitate deployment and adoption.
Rely on the SysML v2 standard to define your system architectures.
Keep using a field-proven methodology to design complex systems.
Capella for SysON brings the concepts and modeling approach of Arcadia to SysON, an open-source, web-based modeling environment built for SysML v2.
Designed as an extesnion to SysON, it extends this SysML v2 native tool with capabilities dedicated to Arcadia.
At its core, the project relies on a SysML v2 library for Arcadia, extending SysML v2 concepts, so that systems can be modeled according to the Arcadia method. By extending SysML v2 with Arcadia concepts and introducing Capella-inspired graphical representations, the project aims to combine the benefits of a standard modeling language with the methodological guidance of Arcadia.
This approach enables engineers to work with SysML v2 models while following the structured engineering activities they already know from Capella.
Developed by Obeo, in collaboration with Thales, Capella for SysON builds on three complementary open-source components:
Capella Desktop remains the mature solution for operational Arcadia projects. Capella for SysON is a progressive initiative, designed to provide a future evolution path without disrupting existing engineering investments.
Capella for SysON is developed through an Open Innovation approach.
We welcome organizations and contributors interested in shaping the future of Arcadia-based MBSE with SysML v2.
